Recognizing those who Keep things in Order

Being a custodian is harder work than most people assume. Its more work than just picking up after teenagers. The man you see walking down the hallway with a Microfiber cleansing cloth is one of the biggest aspects in the school. The group of people who refill the Paper towel dispenser and Automatic soap dispenser aren’t nobodies. A school couldn’t function without its janitors. Janitors may just be more important than those who run the school. No one else is willing to their job, but no one would be okay if their job wasn’t done.

Schools need to be clean. Schools get sanitation scores just like restaurants and if they don’t pass, they can’t have students in their. There are so many things in a school that can breed germs. There are locker rooms, wrestling mats, cafeterias, bathrooms and classrooms. Locker rooms can get really nasty. You have showers and lockers that teenager leave things in. Wrestling rooms get extremely dirty as well. When the staff infection MRSA was on the rise, wrestling mats were much to blame. Without a custodian doing their job,a student could get harmed by something.
Janitors are just once example of groups of people who get taken for granted in the work force. The jobs of invisible people are some of the most important. There are lots of things we expect to be there, without realizing, that other people do for us. When you go into the office and fill up that coffee cup, do we think of who had it washed and ready for us? How often do we notice that the dirty office floor from yesterday was actually cleaned by a person?. It is as if we just assume some robot does these things, or as the sun set these things just reset.

It is just plain wrong to ignore these people. The people who work these jobs often work extremely odd and long hours. Maids and custodians don’t make a lot of money and work extremely hard. Working these kinds of jobs and not being recognized is hard for the people who work them as well. It is like the example of constantly giving and never getting anything in return. Jobs like this are known for making people feel worthless and lowly.

When using the restroom at work, or the locker room at school take a minute to recognize that someone worked hard to clean that for your use. You should realize that it doesn’t just happen. It takes an immense amount of work to keep a house or office building running. The people who clean and organize a business are they ones who make it run. There would be no business without people like this.
